The RoboSapien RS Media was created by WowWee Robotics. This is a project I'm doing with the RS Media I named "Garcifer". The idea here is to modify and configure the robot to become something much more than what it was out of the factory. To the left is a concept of what I hope the robot will look like. When I get the paint job and eyes done, I'll post the actual photo. Garcifer is my "hack bot" that I will use for the RS Media Development Kit so that I do not cause any damage to my other RS Media ("Nyx").

I bought Garcifer for just under $292 on eBay (including shipping) which is less than half what these robots were selling for. Because they are no longer being manufactured, these are very hard to find. So I could not pass up this deal, especially since it was Buy It Now and New In Box!

Garcifer arrived at 10:25am on June 17, 2010. He was unpacked about 5 minutes later. I had things to do that day so I didn't get to getting him out of the box until afternoon. At 1:44pm he was activated for the first time. Here is a video of his first activation:

Garcifer is a USBNet version RS Media. His first SP Ver is 2007-05-18c, which I assume to be the firmware version. His first and second SP Ver #s are exactly the same as Nyx's (my other RS Media Robot).

When I bought the bot I had no idea what I was going to name him. On June 6, 2010 I was playing Golf Solitaire (working on earning a weekly badge) at Pogo.com. It was 6:20pm in the evening in Temporary Members Room 485 when I noticed on the leader board that someone in the room had the alias "Garrcifer". I thought that was a pretty neat name! So I decided that was going to be the new bot's name! Though I did take out one 'r' in the name, to make it more like "Lucifer" (from the 1978 version of Battlestar Galactica). The color scheme (black and gold) is inspired by the Gold Command Centurions on the same show. The screen pic is inspired by the vox box from K.A.R.R. in the 3rd Season of the Original Knight Rider episode "K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R."

Below is a list of things I want to do to enhance my robot. Links will be to pages that show my progress. I'll note things as "finished" when I finish one of the items. Anything without a link is an idea I haven't started yet. Check back every so often for updates and additions to the list.

Project Garcifer was started on June 18, 2010, with the repainting of the remote control unit.
